Georgian Brass Glass Lined Storage Tobacco Jar Box Ink Well Antique 19th Century

A Georgian c1800 brass cylindrical pot featuring a flared base and decorative horizontal ribbing with a domed lid topped with a prominent acorn-shaped finial.

The interior shows oxidation and remnants of historical use, while the exterior retains a warm brass patina with minor surface pitting and wear consistent with its age.

Without the glass liner I would have been convinced it is for tobacco, I assume though it was likely intended to be an inkwell.. today it is suitable for storage of all sorts :-)
