19th Century Neoclassical Secessionist Marble & Bronze Twin Column Oil Lamp Base

A stunning oil lamp base featuring a distinctive blend of Neoclassical and Secessionist design elements produced around the tail end of the 19th century.

The upper section consists of twin alabaster columns crowned with gilt bronze Ionic capitals and a matching stone block, resting upon a detailed platform adorned with Classical swags and mouldings.

Supporting the entire structure is a flared, decorative metal base elevated by angular feet displaying stylized geometric cut-outs characteristic of Jugendstil metalwork. Likely of Austro-German origin, perhaps French though the geometric cut-out feet make me think the former.
