This Victorian Romantic Revival hand-painted ceramic portrait plaque features a Renaissance-style depiction of a woman playing a mandolin.
The oval plaque is set into a wide, heavily patinated dark wood frame with a gilded inner slip ring, measuring approximately 22.75 cm in total height.
The ceramic plaque shows fine hand-painted details and texture throughout. The reverse of the porcelain panel features a hand-written artist initials which either read "W.W." or "M.M."
The frame shows honest antique wear, including structural splits in the wood joints and minor surface scuffs consistent with its age. The plaque is an unusual, beautiful, authentic piece of period decorative art.
Height: 22.75 cm - Length: 19.5 cm - Portrait: 14 x 10.5 cm
