Danish Thorvaldsen Neoclassical Angel of the Night Owl B & G Porcelain Plaque

A round, white, Danish Neoclassical porcelain plaque by Bing & Grøndahl.

The relief sculpture is an adaptation of Bertel Thorvaldsen's Night, depicting a winged female figure (Nyx, the Angel of the Night) carrying a sleeping child. An owl, a symbol of night, flies below and to the right. The original marble relief was created by Thorvaldsen in 1815, this is a later 20th century piece.
