An original circa 1900 watercolour by Augustus Osborne Lamplough (1877 - 1930) providing a detailed interior view of the Doorway in the Henry VII Chapel at Westminster Abbey emphasizing the intricate gothic stonework and soaring ribbed arches.
The scene features a central robed figure standing on a polished chequered marble floor surrounded by monumental stone pillars and hanging medieval heraldic banners that add a sense of history and colour to the architecture. To the right, a massive carved wooden door is partially visible leading the eye toward the distant altar screen and stained glass window.

Signed by the artist in the lower left with a handwritten title and location in the lower right.
Presented in an ornate gilt gesso frame with an original exhibition label from the Alexandra Gallery in Harrogate on the back.

Lamplough was a prominent British watercolourist active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries who is celebrated for his luminous and atmospheric architectural studies.
While widely recognized for his later Orientalist scenes of North Africa, he established his reputation through highly detailed British landscapes and historical landmarks, such as Westminster Abbey, which he frequently exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1902 and 1910.
He was also a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists starting in the late 1890s and showcased his work through the Royal Society of British Artists, where his mastery of light and shadow on stone structures was highly regarded.
His Westminster Abbey series captures the gothic grandeur of the interior and exterior with a soft, naturalistic palette that appeals to collectors of both architectural history and late Victorian / early Edwardian art.
