A stunning pair of still life oil paintings featuring fruits, foliage, a jug and a vase produced by T Wilde in 1924 after originals by Catharina Klein (1861 - 1929). Klein was a German painter whose naturalistic flower and fruit still life's were extremely popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with her work being bought by the German nobility. Her work became famous worldwide as multi-colour lithographic prints in books, on postcards, but also in botanical publications.
This high quality pair are painted based upon originals by Catharina and were produced during her lifetime.
With some wear to frames but the paintings are in good order. Unfortunately I have been unable to find a lead for a T Wilde but clearly they were rather skilled even if amateur, the name Wilde has origins both in Germany and Britain and could be from either.
