This 19th-century antique flow blue ceramic pepper caster features the iconic Willow pattern, a Chinoiserie design that became a staple of English pottery.
Decorated with traditional oriental motifs including pagodas, a bridge, and stylized trees, this caster dates from the mid-Victorian period when flow blue was at the height of its popularity in both British and American households.
The baluster form includes a pierced dome top and a flared foot, typical of functional tableware produced in the Staffordshire potteries by makers such as Ridgway or Johnson Brothers.
Height: 11.5 cm - Base diameter: 5 cm
In great overall condition with expected crazing and some tiny chips near the piercing.
