Large Bohemian Art Nouveau Czech Royal Dux 481 Figural Porcelain Antique Vase

A large exemplary piece Royal Dux porcelain in the form of a figural Art Nouveau vase.

This Bohemian Czech antique features a partially draped, bisque finish male figure clutching at foliage and blowing a shell-horn. The vessel structure is accented with large, high-relief, curved foliate handles and gilt decoration whilst the figures head and hand holding the horn also protrude.

Possibly a depiction of the Triton who had a shell horn however that is the only aquatic theme present, it is more likely a lesser deity such as a male nymph-type.

Height: 37 cm

Displays very well with a few small chips to the base and a hairline crack to rim.

I've only seen one other example of this model but decorated in muted colours and without the Royal Dux mark, generally Royal Dux male figural pieces are sparse compared with female.
