A tall 19th-century frosted opaline glass flared epergne vase in pale blue with stunning bronze base.
Ornately decorated with hand-painted gold enamel detailing, including stylized patterns and jewelled accents using applied red cabochon stones. The wide rim of the vase is finished with a gilded band and the glass sits in a substantial bronze, once silvered, base designed with naturalistic leaf and floral motifs in the Art Nouveau-style.
The combination of blue opaline and the jewelled gilt enamel makes both a high-end French (Baccarat) or a highly decorative Bohemian (Moser or Harrach) attribution plausible. While simple frosted opaline could be either, the specific combination of frosted opaline plus heavy gilt and applied "jewels" is a signature decorative style that is strongly attributed to Bohemian makers, particularly those operating out of Karlsbad and other factories in the Czech region during the Art Nouveau era.
Height: 42.5 cm - Rim diameter: 16 cm - Base diameter: 15.75 cm
In good overall condition with loss to a few cabochons and a leaf from the base along with wear to gilt.
