Georgian Hicks & Meigh Ironstone Pedestal Cake Stand Plate English Imari Antique

A great piece of Georgian pottery in the form of an Imari palette cake stand produced by Hicks & Meigh.

Featuring a scalloped and moulded rim plate raised on a broad, moulded pedestal foot, profusely hand-painted in the traditional Imari style using underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt accents. The pattern is richly detailed with Chinoiserie floral motifs, centred by a large medallion containing stylized flowers and foliage, surrounded by a broad band of deep cobalt blue cross-hatching and gilt, and the outer border of the plate continues the floral design against the white ironstone body

With Hicks & Meigh Royal Coat of Arms mark on the underside.

In good overall condition with some wear to gilt and a couple of chips to the base rim (view final photos)
