Rare 19th Century Staffordshire Pottery Figure Couple On Boat Spill Vase Antique

An unusual mid 19th century Staffordshire figure group in a model I have been unable to find another example of.

It depicts a romantic scene featuring a male figure standing by the central tree and reaching out to a female figure, with their hands joined in a clasp which suggests courtship, peril, or rescue, all situated on a base moulded to represent a small boat navigating painted waves.

A hollow, tree-stump spill holder rises between the figures, designed to hold paper tapers or wooden spills for transferring fire from a hearth.

Height: 17.5 cm - Base dimensions: 11.5 x 5 cm

In good overall condition with no chips just some flakes to paint.
