Rare 18th Century Indian Bronze Jainism Mahavira Tirthankara Jina Figure Antique

This 18th century Indian bronze figure depicts a Jain Tirthankara, Mahavira, seated in a traditional meditative posture on a stepped pedestal base.

The piece features striking classical Jina iconography, including elongated earlobes, a tranquil expression, and a raised diamond-shaped shrivatsa mark on the centre of the chest. A particularly distinctive feature of this bronze is the unique placement and size of the hands, with the left hand resting open-palmed in the lap in dhyana mudra to signify quiet contemplation, while the disproportionately large right hand extends downward toward the base in a grounding gesture of spiritual balance.

Crafted with smooth geometric contours and a rich, aged patina, this authentic piece makes a remarkable addition to any collection of sacred Asian art, antique metalware, or religious sculpture.
