A Chinese late Qing Dynasty silk work embroidery featuring a central peacock with a fanned tail, intricately rendered in the Suzhou style with fine silk threads.
The peacock stands upon a rocky outcrop amidst a lush landscape of flowering peonies and delicate blossoms, with another bird in flight and a smaller bird perched below. The needlework showcases a variety of textures and colours, including shades of grey, cream, and red, all set against a neutral silk background.
The embroidery is presented in a gold-finished frame with a green-tinted mat, which shows some light age-related wear and minor surface marks. The silk panel itself exhibits the fine detail and subtle shading characteristic of 19th-century Chinese textile art, remaining in good antique condition with well-preserved colours.
