A charming 19th-century Victorian Staffordshire pottery figure of a Crimean War-era sailor, dating to approximately 1854 - 1860.
The flatback figure is hand-painted in vibrant overglaze enamels with the sailor dressed in a dark blue jacket, white trousers, and a shirt with distinctive red, wavy striping. He proudly holds a large, checkered flag over his shoulder. He is posed standing on a circular base with his leg resting on a cannon barrel.
This collectible figure of a British serviceman is a fine example of patriotic English folk art, perfect for a collector of Staffordshire or historical military antiques.
