A mid 19th century Japanese Late Edo period Arita Kraak-style porcelain charger featuring a deeply scalloped, moulded rim and hand-painted in rich underglaze cobalt blue over a white porcelain ground.
The complex interior design centres on a star-shaped medallion containing dragons encircled by alternating panels filled with fan patterns, stylized lotus blossoms, auspicious symbols, and geometric diapering.
The reverse side is decorated with fluid blue scrollwork along the outer border, while the base bears an apocryphal six-character underglaze blue Chenghua mark along with visible kiln spur marks inside the foot ring.
Diameter: 42 cm
In excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
