A lovely porcelain spill vase figurine depicting a standing Geisha-style lady with a yellow basket, dressed in a white kimono with floral decoration, an orange/terracotta obi, and standing on a blue and white patterned square base.
A fine example of German 19th century chinoiserie, quite unusual that the woman appears to be of European descent rather than Asian. It reminds me of Claude Monet's "La Japonaise (Camille Monet in Japanese Costume)" and would have been produced similarly during the Japonisme craze booming in Europe at the time.
With impressed model number 376 on the underside and an unidentified mark, alike a crescent moon with a line through it.
Height: 16 cm - Base diameter: 6 cm - Max diameter: 8 cm
In good overall condition with a slight chip to her right hand (view final photo)
