An 18th Century English porcelain ribbed hexadecagon plate (16 sided) decorated purely in gilt with patterned bands and central sprig.
Likely to have been outsourced to Chamberlain's in Worcester by Caughley. It is possible this is the ''Royal Wheel'' border described in the trade documentation between the two companies. Unmarked, c.1785.
Reference: Caughley & Worcester Porcelains, Godden, Chapter V and plate 25 illustrates some teawares with a wide Fitzhugh type blue printed border, edged with a reduced part of this ''wheel'' design in gilt.
Diameter: 21 cm
In excellent condition with no chips or cracks and minimal wear to gilt.
