This large late 19th-century vessel is crafted from glass with a stunning iridescent finish which creates a shimmering metallic lustre.
The vase features a globular broad-shouldered body tapering down to a flared pedestal foot topped with a removable pierced brass flower frog designed to hold stems in place. The brass rim displays a decorative openwork geometric pattern contrasting with the smooth organic form of the Bohemian glass.
This piece is a classic example of the Art Nouveau movement's focus on fluid shapes and experimental surface treatments particularly those popularized by the Kralik and Loetz Witwe glassworks in the late 1800s.
Height 23 cm - Rim diameter: 11.25 cm - Base diameter: 11 cm
In great condition with light wear.
